Sergey Udaltsov declared hunger-strike once again, and this time it was a dry one, so he refused even to drink water. Activist is neither moved to hospital, nor freed. Udaltsov is now in a critical state, and he has lost consciousness several times. His life is in danger!
People of the goodwill, citizens of all countries of the World!
On December 4, 2011, parliamentary election was held in Russia. Just after the vote mass protests of angered Russians started against mass fraud and law breaches during the election. Observers claimed that up to 15 million votes could be added unlawfully to the ruling party ‘United Russia’.
Since this day – December 4 – one of well-known leaders of non-system opposition, the head of Left Front movement Sergey Udaltsov is kept in detainment. He was the organizer of many civil actions and took part in the campaign for Khimki Forest conservation.
We are sure that preventive arrest of Udaltsov (before the beginning of unrest) is motivated by goal don’t let him take part in protest actions, where he can be one of organizers.
There is absolutely no foundation for Sergey Udaltsov’s arrest: he doesn’t break any laws and on December 4 hasn’t even reached the place of rally against electoral fraud. Unknown persons in civilian actually kidnapped him in the center of Moscow, and nearly for 24 hours nobody knew about the fate of opposition activist. Then it was found that Udaltsov was arrested for 5 days for forged charge that he had allegedly crossed the street in the wrong place. In protest against unlawful arrest Udaltsov declared a hunger-strike and several days later was moved to the hospital, because he felt unwell.
But from the hospital he was again brought to the prison cell, and this time the term of arrest was already 15 days. Sergey Udaltsov declared hunger-strike once again, and this time it was a dry one, so he refused even to drink water. Activist is neither moved to hospital, nor freed. Udaltsov is now in a critical state, and he has lost consciousness several times. His life is in danger!
We estimate the situation with Sergey Udaltsov as a reprisal of Russian government frightened and angered by popular protests. We demand immediate liberation of Udaltsov and immediate medical aid to him. Each hour of time is important.
We ask civil society of the whole World to demand from Russian leaders – President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin – to free immediately Sergey Udaltsov.
